Drawing from direct observation from a life model is an intense and completely engaging skill. Learning to see all of the different aspects required to create a convincing and beautiful human form needs all the concentration and experience to come together.
I find it endlessly fascinating and with each new work, a little progress encourages me to work even harder.
I use thin willow charcoal to draw, occasionally pastels and pen and ink. Colour paintings are in oils or special acrylic paints which mimic the qualities of oil.
