Sailing on the west coast of Scotland takes me to remote and beautiful anchorages. The changing weather conditions can inspire wild and blustery drama or calm reflective moods.
Unique opportunities to visit uninhabited islands are also fraught with difficulties on board, one being exhaustion from crew duties.
Sketches made at sea can be combined with photographs to be worked up as an oil painting back in the studio.
